Nadat ze bij haar vriend Marcel is ingetrokken in hun nieuwe huis en haar libido uitblijft, begint Mila zich te realiseren waarom ze een moeilijke relatie met seks heeft. Hoewel ze van Marcel houdt, vindt ze het onmogelijk om intiem met hem te zijn, omdat elke seksuele opwinding een diepgewortelde schaamte oproept die zich manifesteert als een agressieve uitslag over haar lichaam - iets waar ze al sinds haar kindertijd last van heeft, toen haar moeder het kalmeerde met zeewater. Het huis roept allerlei herinneringen op en blijkt een vruchtbare bodem voor een heronderzoek van haar verleden. Door haar kindertijd en adolescentie te herbeleven hoopt Mila zich te verzoenen met haar eigen lichaam.

In een unieke filmtaal spant de film zich over verschillende levensfases van de vrouw, waarin thema's zoals schaamte en taboe sterk naar voren komen. Regisseur Elena Martín bewijs zichzelf als belangrijke stem binnen een golf aan jonge, Catalaanse regisseurs en heeft ook een welverdiende prijs onder andere in Cannes mogen ontvangen.

After she moves in with her boyfriend, Mila finds her body is resisting sex. She embarks on a journey of self-exploration, to her earliest moments of sexual awareness and her teenage years, in the hope of reconciling with her own body. With strong actors and the use of a unique film language, the film shows various stages of Mila’s life as a woman, touching on shame, taboo and acceptance.

After moving in with her boyfriend Marcel in their new home and her libido keeps lacking, Mila begins to realize why she has a difficult relationship with sex. Although she loves Marcel, she finds it impossible to be intimate with him because any sexual arousal evokes a deep-seated shame that manifests as an aggressive rash over her body - something she has suffered from since childhood, a time when her mother soothed it with seawater. The house evokes all sorts of memories and proves fertile ground for a re-examination of her past. By reliving her childhood and adolescence, Mila hopes to reconcile herself with her own body.

In a unique cinematic language, the film spans over different stages of a woman's life, in which themes of shame and taboo emerge strongly. Director Elena Martín proves herself as an important voice within a wave of young, Catalan directors and has also been granted a well-deserved award at Cannes, among others.
