Little Trouble Girls

Een ontroerend coming-of-age-verhaal van de introverte 16-jarige Lucija, die zich aansluit bij het meisjeskoor van haar katholieke school en bevriend raakt met de flamboyante Ana-Marija. Tijdens een weekendretraite in een afgelegen klooster worden Lucija’s opkomende verlangens, vriendschappen en geloofswaarden op de proef gesteld, waardoor ze haar eigen identiteit begint te herzien in een wereld van nieuwe verlangens en sociale spanningen. De film ging in wereldpremière in de Perspectives-sectie van de Berlinale 2025, waar hij de FIPRESCI-prijs won voor beste film in die sectie. Ook viel de film in de prijzen voor zijn cinematografie op het Tribeca Film Festival, evenals meerdere onderscheidingen op festivals zoals CinEast en het Festival of Slovenian Film, waar hij onder meer Beste Film en acteerprijzen binnensleepte.

A touching coming-of-age story about the introverted 16-year-old Lucija, who joins the girls’ choir at her Catholic school and befriends the flamboyant Ana-Marija. During a weekend retreat at a remote monastery, Lucija’s emerging desires, friendships and religious values are put to the test, prompting her to rethink her identity amid new longings and social tensions. The film premiered in the Perspectives section at Berlinale 2025, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film in the section. It also received awards for its cinematography at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as multiple distinctions at festivals such as CinEast and the Festival of Slovenian Film, including prizes for best film and acting.
