In Braids, two young women speak about intimacy, growing up, observing and being observed. The feeling that there is always a full audience watching – that SHE is never truly alone – lingers even in intimate or creative moments. We follow the conversations and witness how the line between scene and memory begins to shift and blur. Gradually, she starts to let go of the narrative she’s been holding onto. The storyboards fade beneath layers of paint and the spectators disappear.

Then, in an empty theatre, SHE discovers that she is still not entirely alone. A little girl sits quietly in the audience. A version of herself that does not look and does not judge is completely absorbed in her own world and her drawings.

Braids become a metaphor for control, for innocence, for connection and for the longing to reclaim oneself. The boundaries between fiction, memory and performance fade as SHE begins to rewrite her own story – until the moment she decides: I look, instead of being looked at.
